Sensitive Painting on Corel Painter

One of the most important things to use for digital painting involves the ability to get the most accurate methods of paint movements. Sensitive painting on Corel Painter can be easy though. There are brush tracking options to use for controlling sensitivity. Having a good composition plan and using an underpainting can be useful as well. There are also some final details to use involving sensitive painting.

For accurate digital painting the brush should be well checked. Brush Tracking will be determined by the width and density of the painter's strokes. For the Windows version of Corel Painter the user should go to the Brush Tracking option under the Preferences in the Edit menu. On Mac OS the user should go to the Corel Painter X panel, go to Preferences and then to the Brush Tracking option. A good brushstroke should be used on the scratch pad provided to help determine the brush tracking.

Creating a good composition plan is essential for being able to handle the most sensitive parts of digital painting on Corel Painter. For drawing a sketch to use for the final option it is best to use a brush variant under the Pastels category. Also, using the Coarse Cotton Canvas for the surface on a sketch can be useful in that it creates an impression that is realistic to that of typical sketch paper.

Based on the colors that are seen in the item that one is going to be drawing a good color scheme should be used. The Mixer Pad should be used for this. Colors can be added or samples to the palette so that the stylus pen used for drawing can work like a paintbrush on a piece of painting canvas. Colors can also be blended together just as in traditional painting.

An underpainting or Muck-up is needed for best results with accurate digital painting. Using large brushes for the underpainting helps at first so that background colors can be blocked in. Blending the paint is especially helpful for sensitive painting of this part. The Real Tapered Wet Flat variant will be a good choice here.

There are a couple of useful tools to use at the end of the task. Cutting the size of the Real Blender brush at certain points in the painting should be used for making better details. Also, for areas where the colors may be too extreme, opposing colors can be used to help lessen the intensity of these colors so that nothing will stick out when it shouldn't be. These colors that are opposite to each other in the color wheel, are called Complementary Colors, and when are mixed together in equal amounts, they make a neutral grey.

These are all useful tips to use for sensitive painting on Corel Painter. Even though accurate digital painting can be used it is still important to use these tips so that it will be easier to get the paintings to work to be detailed and impressive.
