The Corel Painter Dodge Tool

Brightening a photo is needed for making a digital painting based on that photo easier to do. The Corel Painter Dodge tool is a great option to use for this. This is a feature that is used in Corel Painter to help with editing portraits that will be used for digital paintings. This is especially great for photos that are too dark on their own or ones that can use better effects.

The first thing to use for the Dodge tool is to upload the image that will be used for the painting. There may be some parts in the image where items can be easily lost to shadows when the painting based on the portrait is used. It makes for paintings that are done digitally to look less realistic.

To access this tool the Dodge tool from the Corel Painter toolbox should be selected. This is in the shape of a large black dot on the upper left hand corner of the box. Next, on the property bar the Size slider should be moved or a certain size value can be entered in the Size box. This is needed so that the size of the tool can be determined. The size should be based on the ability of the user to work in the particular area that needs help.

The Opacity Slider should be moved accordingly. A value can also be entered in the Opacity box. This is going to be used to help with editing the level of strength in the Dodge tool. This means that the brightness level will be different according to the opacity that is going to be used.

Next, the brush for the painting should be moved into the image that is selected with the Dodge tool for the effect to be fully applied. For brightening a photo here the area that needs to be improved upon will need to be overexposed by a certain amount. This is going to be needed so that a better result will be created as a result of the dodge tool.

When the Dodge tool is fully done the process of brightening a photo will be completed. While the areas on the photo may look in some cases to be brighter than that of what they really are this will be useful in that it will help to create a better image as a result when the painting process begins around the entire painting.

The Corel Painter Dodge tool is one of the best things to use for brightening a photo and for making a digital painting based on a photo look better. It is easy to use and is a notable improvement on the painting as a whole.
